LEVEL

1 Roo: I’m relatively fit and comfortable on the bike and happiest on mild gradients or the flat.

2 Roo’s: Fitness and health is my life. I ride regularly on a weekly basis with friends and on weekends I’m not daunted by rides of up to 5 hours for a few days back to back.

3 Roo’s: Riding is my life! I’m not interested in racing, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I love the challenge and the idea of where my legs and bike can take me. My friends and I are always looking for the next cycling adventure. Want to know more about the VéloRoo Roo levels?

  • What is Gr8 Gravel?

A ride consisting of loops from a start point giving you the freedom to complete the full course or smaller segments to suit your level.

We draw from our local knowledge of the roads around Crows Nest and bring together an awesome days gravel riding.

It’s all about Smiles per Hour 🙂

This is not a guided ride however there will be a couple of lead riders on the course if you choose to ride with them but they will keep at a general pace. You will be emailed a GPX file in order to follow the route. The support van will be a check point enroute to ensure everyone has made it through each section and will sweep the course if necessary. The support van will also have extra water onboard and ride snacks to help you refuel. You can also pop your backpack in the van to be able to access at the checkpoints.

For those with a bit of a distance to travel, you may wish to make a weekend of it and stay at the Crows Nest Tourist Park Qld or the Crows Nest Motel or even check out High Country Hamlets for other accommodation options.

    Rider numbers are limited.

  • If you’ve never ridden a gravel bike and would like to try it out, we have gravel bikes available for hire from $50 – $140 and can also arrange e-mountain-bike hire.

  • Routes may be adjusted according to weather / road conditions at the time of the event. You will be provided with a GPX file of the routes as well as a printable map with instructions.

Ride Registration from 8am – Rolling at 8:30am.

    Example of Crows Nest Ride

Options from a single 43km (660m total elev) morning loop up to a full 107km (1620m total elev) full day experience

Morning loop of 65km with 1000m elevation gain. (Alternate shorter loop 43km 660m elevation gain – you can choose this at the 20km mark) all returning back to Crows Nest where you have a number of choices for places to grab a bite to eat and refuel.
After lunch depart on a 42km loop with 620m elevation gain. (Once again there is an optional short cut 22km loop with 270m elevation gain)

    Example of Goombungee Ride

If you’d like to do some distance but with less climbing – total of the morning & afternoon ride – 83km (893m elev)

Morning loop of 52km with 496m elevation gain returning back to Goombungee to grab a bite to eat and refuel.
After lunch depart on a 31km loop with 397m elevation gain.
