Come on a cycling tour of Italy you will never forget – experience the magic of the Italian Dolomites, the challenge of the Stelvio Pass and breathtaking Lake Como with its cycling shrine, the Chapel of Madonna del Ghisallo.

    • Day 1: Welcome to the Dolomites!

Your VéloRoo Dolomites & More Cycling holiday starts when we collect you from Venice Marco Polo airport at 3pm. We have a short 2.5hr drive to our base for the next 4 nights near Arabba.

    • Day 2: Passo di Falzarego, Passo di Valparola & Passo Campolongo

After a hearty breakfast we head out on a stunning discovery loop ride from the hotel. Two climbs and two wonderful descents, ones the local cyclists love. A peak just shy of 2200 meters. An abundance of nature and giant white Dolomite mountain landscapes dominate our ride today.

    • Day 3: Passo di Falzarego & Passo di Giau

Striking cliff faces, delicate wildflowers, pretty chalet villages and grand panoramas await us as ride out from our hotel and tackle Passo di Falzarego before continuing on for our pass over the spectacular Passo di Giau.

    • Day 4: The Sella Ronda - Campologno / Gardena / Sella / Pordoi

Today we cycle the well-known route of the Sella Ronda. Make sure your phone is charged and you have space for photos…lots of photos!

Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo; names you won’t forget for their majestic beauty, variety and charm, and described by many as a cycling circuit offering the most spectacular scenery in the world.

    • Day 5: Meet a 5000+yr old man

Today you have a well-deserved rest day for the legs. We bid farewell to the Dolomites and head toward our next adventure.

In Bolzano we visit the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology which houses Otzi – the iceman, a truly amazing and unique insight into human history not to be missed.

We then arrive at our South Tyrol base for the next 2 nights.

    • Day 6: Passo Stelvio

Today you tackle the breathtakingly spectacular Stelvio Pass, famous around the world for both cyclists and motorsport enthusiasts for its iconic 48 lacets.

Stelvio’s magnificence is beyond doubt. Anticipation builds from the start as the scenery and passo reveals itself as you climb. Each hairpin, another step of discovery. The true summit reward, your reward, is to look over the iconic route stretched below with your own eyes. To feel the emotion of what you achieved…that is the essence of cycling VéloRoo style.

    • Day 7: Umbrail Pass Switzerland

Today we cross borders again out of Italy and back in to Switzerland.

Our return to Italy is via Switzerlands highest paved summit – the Umbrail Pass! Hey if you are going to “do” Switzerland, whose photogenic passes and mountain ranges are as legendary as its Toblerone, funky army knives and watchmaking, why not start your Swiss pass collecting at the highest pass!

    • Day 8: Where the rich and famous go

Today is a day of indulgence.

Take a break off the road bike and enjoy the splendour of Lake Como. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the tranquility of the lake before we head to Bellagio for a little explore and some sight seeing from the water.

    • Day 9: Chapel of Madonna del Ghisallo

We will start the day with breakfast overlooking Lake Como.

For your last ride, let’s have a bit of history: the Madonna del Ghisallo, the most famous climb on the Giro di Lombardia. Sitting atop the climb is the Chapel of Madonna del Ghisallo, a shrine to cyclists. You also have the opportunity to visit the Ghisallo Cycling Museum next to the Chapel.

    • Day 10: We bid you farewell - until next time!

After your last breakfast overlooking Lake Como, we pack up and transfer to Milan Malpensa Airport (1.5hr transfer). We will have you there by midday for your onward journey throughout Europe.

A word from our clients

Don’t take our word for it - here's some comments from happy VeloRoovians

Pyrenees Challenge - Autumn
Just returned from having a fantastic time completing the VeloRoo Pyrenees Challenge with Steve and Julia. Thanks Julia for your help with my pre and post planning as all worked out well.
As for the VeloRoo portion, the bike supplied was great and set to my measurments with only a little onsite tweaking required.
The accommodation and meals in the Pyrenees were great - traditional regional dishes and plenty of it. On the tour were 4 other like miinded riders from the US, Taiwan and UK and thanks to Steve and Neil (ride guide) we all hit off and had a great time.
The riding - the Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Pont d'Espagne, Cols de Tente, Soulor and Aubisque were all brilliant to ride. It was very satsifying to look down at the road travelled once the top had been reach. Steve's singing and local knowledge added to each day and Neil's pro cycling background provided another level of insight to the region and simply capped off the experience.
Thanks guys and look forward to completing another VeloRoo Tour soon.Oct 2019
October Pyrenees/Non-Cylist
What an amazing experience! Celebrating our 25th anniversary, watching my husband climb so many famous Tour de France climbs was a real treat! Steve & Julia were so welcoming upon our arrival at the train station and it just got better from there. We connected quickly with the other cyclists and one other non-cylist, all from different parts of the world. I especially enjoyed our meal times, chatting, laughing and getting to know one another. Riding along with Julia in the support van, each day more beautiful than the last was spectacular. I loved being able to watch my husband conquer his bucket list climbs and was able to get great videos and photos of him accomplishing them. Unfortunately the photos just don't do it justice! The beauty of the mountains, especially during the change of seasons was a sight I won't soon forget. Not knowing too much about cycling, the tour seemed well organized and the cyclists had everything they needed from great bikes & gear, to great guides and great support along the routes each day. The experience left us longing for more and has my husband already looking into a Spain trip that we hear through the grapevine Veloroo might soon be planning. Fingers crossed!! I highly recommend using Veloroo for your next cycling tour!Oct 2019
