About us

VéloRoo is run by Australian couple, Steve & Julia

In 2004 on a holiday in France we drove through the Alps and saw writing on the road. It was from the Tour de France; it was Galibier. That year we sat diligently in front of the TV and watched the overnight live coverage, looking out for the places we had seen. The scenery was spectacular.

At the same time we started to listen to “the voice of cycling”, Phil Liggett, and it’s thanks to Phil and his enthusiasm for cycling that we began our journey to where we are today.

In 2009 we bought a little French village house to spend our holidays in, and we then realised we were in an undiscovered cyclists’ paradise! In 2012 we established our cycling tours and road bike hire business, VéloRoo. We just had to share our awesome cycling area with others!

We actually met through a love of 4 wheels not 2; we were both Motorsport tragics. Our first French holiday was planned around seeing the F1 Monaco GP and Le Mans 24hr. Through VéloRoo, we are able to combine and share our passions with other 2 and 4 wheel enthusiasts, with cycling tours to special events such as the Historic Monaco Grand Prix and the 24hr Velo Le Mans.

It is truly a passion for us to ensure people enjoy the perfect cycling holiday.

We look forward to sharing all we have discovered (and continue to discover) in our awesome cycling region with you.

Riding with Steve as a tour guide made the difference. As a group of three MAMIL's, we booked two days of riding with Steve ... Having Steve as a tour guide significantly improved the whole experience from the distance covered, the speed, the hills, the countryside, the views and, of course, the cafes and restaurants!
Steve is a top bloke for both having a laugh and learning from so in conclusion; lots of exercise, lots of fun and a quality bike ..... hassle free and worth every penny.Took Guided Day Rides in France in May 2017
For us, the tour was a perfect balance of challenging cycling in spectacular scenery and enjoying the local sights, delicious food and wine. Steve and Julia went 'above-and -beyond' to tailor the tour to the needs and interests of our group which included spending an extra day before the tour to ride around their home village of St Genies de Fontedit. Steve was a friendly, hospitable and enthusiastic cycling guide and Julia was superbly reliable and organised - always in the right place at the right time in the support van with refreshments, extra jackets (or a lift home).
We would highly recommend VeloRoo for a cycling holiday!Took Iconic Climbs Pyrénées Challenge in June 2017
