Travel Update for our cycling holidays in the Post Covid Climate

by

Well this year isn’t going as planned is it! I read a quote the other day that summed it up for me –

“There are decades where nothing happens, then there are weeks where decades happen”

And that’s certainly been the case for 2020. Firstly we want all of our VeloRoo family both present and future, to stay safe and well. Everybody has been faced with different situations. Some have perfected how to hold a zoom meeting in business shirt and pyjama bottoms. Some now understand why their dog gets excited when someone walks past the window. Some have dragged the old indoor trainer out of the garage and begrudgingly dusted it off. And some parents have realised that maybe their kids aren’t angels and their teachers deserve a medal 🙂

We have had so many clients that have had to reluctantly make changes to their 2020 holiday plans. So many birthday trips or other milestones events that will need to be celebrated in a different manner this year and then made up for with celebrations next year!

There will be life after Coronavirus. And when you’re ready to travel again, we’ll be here for you!

And the great thing is, the VeloRoo style of cycling holiday is already perfectly suited to coping with the post covid world!

That’s because our style is

  • small group specialists – we always have been!
  • always avoid the crowded tourist spots in favour of the quieter hidden gems
  • always enjoy exploring the space and tranquility of the open countryside by bike
  • always stay in smaller family run accommodation, not a big hotel chain. And now, more than ever, they pride themselves on the cleanliness of their properties.
  • always dine at small family run restaurants who pride themselves not only on the quality of their local food but the safe and clean environments in which they work. We don’t go to the crowded tourist trap cafes.

So please, don’t stop dreaming about that cycling holiday. Here at VeloRoo – Live, Laugh, Ride Cycling Holidays – we are looking forward to showing you our favourite cycling gems, sometime in the not too distant future.

Europe

From a practical point of view – We recognise the increased uncertainty that the current COVID situation may be causing in planning your future trips. We have released our 2021 dates for our South of France, Pyrenees and Italian Dolomites and More trips and also have our Spanish trip in the pipeline. So to help you book with confidence, we are offering a modified cancellation policy : until the situation has stabilised , we will be offering 100% refund on deposits for all new bookings made after 1st April 2020, for cancellations made more than 3 months prior to the tour start date.

Rest assured we are committed to our clients safety and health at all times, so should the current events preclude the opportunity for your travel in the future, we will continue to remain flexible.

Australia

For our Australian and New Zealand guests we will soon be revealing our Queensland cycling trips based around the stunning Sunshine Coast hinterland. We believe that once we are allowed to travel within Australia (and most likely New Zealand will be included in our “bubble”) that everyone will be busting to get out on their bikes and experience an awesome cycling holiday. More details coming soon!

A word from our clients

Don’t take our word for it - here's some comments from happy VeloRoovians

Recently returned from attending the October ’19 Pyrenees Challenge cycling trip with VeloRoo. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations and turned out to be the trip of lifetime.

The scheduled rides (Tourmalet, D’Espagne, Aubisque, Solour, Tentes, Luz Ardiden) were well planned, well supported and unbelievably picturesque. Steve and Neil were great, safety-conscious guides who knew the terrain and local coffee shops/restaurants very well allowing us to focus on the climbing and taking in the beautiful landscape along the routes. Steve’s friendly and funny disposition, along with his underrated singing talents 😊, kept the tone of each ride refreshingly light and non-competitive as did the occasional picture and refueling stop.

The hired bike was relatively new and well maintained with appropriate gearing and brakes for the steep terrain. Supplied kit and helmet were of high quality also. Our accommodations in Luz St. Sauveur were very comfortable and conveniently located in close proximity to local restaurants, pubs, shopping and of course iconic climbs (Tourmalet Km 0 was a two minute walk from our hotel). Meals at local restaurants were very good-excellent and had several pre-selected menu options that usually featured three courses and included wine.
At our trip’s conclusion Julia and Steve distributed pics and thoughtfully edited videos of each of our cycling days which are awesome keepsakes and memories. These memories, and the friends gained, made this trip exceptionally satisfying. I am already looking forward to my next cycling holiday with Steve, Neil and Julia and highly recommend VeloRoo to any serious cycling enthusiast who is looking for a friendly, well organized and reasonably priced trip.Took Pyrénées Iconic Climbs Challenge in Oct 2019
'Cranky Julie' was in show-room condition (that's the super light bike). Perfectly maintained and cleaned everyday.
Daily itinerary was spot on, adjusted as required to suit weather and rider ability.
Its not a cycling holiday without friendly hosts, good food and superb wine. We had all this!
