Travel Update for our cycling holidays in the Post Covid Climate

by

Well this year isn’t going as planned is it! I read a quote the other day that summed it up for me –

“There are decades where nothing happens, then there are weeks where decades happen”

And that’s certainly been the case for 2020. Firstly we want all of our VeloRoo family both present and future, to stay safe and well. Everybody has been faced with different situations. Some have perfected how to hold a zoom meeting in business shirt and pyjama bottoms. Some now understand why their dog gets excited when someone walks past the window. Some have dragged the old indoor trainer out of the garage and begrudgingly dusted it off. And some parents have realised that maybe their kids aren’t angels and their teachers deserve a medal 🙂

We have had so many clients that have had to reluctantly make changes to their 2020 holiday plans. So many birthday trips or other milestones events that will need to be celebrated in a different manner this year and then made up for with celebrations next year!

There will be life after Coronavirus. And when you’re ready to travel again, we’ll be here for you!

And the great thing is, the VeloRoo style of cycling holiday is already perfectly suited to coping with the post covid world!

That’s because our style is

  • small group specialists – we always have been!
  • always avoid the crowded tourist spots in favour of the quieter hidden gems
  • always enjoy exploring the space and tranquility of the open countryside by bike
  • always stay in smaller family run accommodation, not a big hotel chain. And now, more than ever, they pride themselves on the cleanliness of their properties.
  • always dine at small family run restaurants who pride themselves not only on the quality of their local food but the safe and clean environments in which they work. We don’t go to the crowded tourist trap cafes.

So please, don’t stop dreaming about that cycling holiday. Here at VeloRoo – Live, Laugh, Ride Cycling Holidays – we are looking forward to showing you our favourite cycling gems, sometime in the not too distant future.

Europe

From a practical point of view – We recognise the increased uncertainty that the current COVID situation may be causing in planning your future trips. We have released our 2021 dates for our South of France, Pyrenees and Italian Dolomites and More trips and also have our Spanish trip in the pipeline. So to help you book with confidence, we are offering a modified cancellation policy : until the situation has stabilised , we will be offering 100% refund on deposits for all new bookings made after 1st April 2020, for cancellations made more than 3 months prior to the tour start date.

Rest assured we are committed to our clients safety and health at all times, so should the current events preclude the opportunity for your travel in the future, we will continue to remain flexible.

Australia

For our Australian and New Zealand guests we will soon be revealing our Queensland cycling trips based around the stunning Sunshine Coast hinterland. We believe that once we are allowed to travel within Australia (and most likely New Zealand will be included in our “bubble”) that everyone will be busting to get out on their bikes and experience an awesome cycling holiday. More details coming soon!

A word from our clients

Don’t take our word for it - discover why our cycling adventurists have fallen in love with the Occitanie Region of Southern France and the VeloRoo way.

I was luckily enough recently to have a few days in Noosa (glad to live on the QLD side of the boarder!). I have been there before and even taken my bike so I could explore the surrounding hinterland. However, this time I decided to take a guided tour with VeloRoo as I wanted someone who knew the area and the best bike friendly roads (rather than me trying to wing it and getting lost and not really getting the most of the time I had). I am so pleased I did. VeloRoo looked after me all the way; from our start at Noosa beach (blue sky, white sand, rolling waves – almost didn’t want to leave but glad we did) to our finish point back at my hotel. We were blessed by a magnificent warm winter morning (sorry southerners) and not much traffic getting out of Noosa and into the hills. The roads were smooth, the scenery sublime and Steve provided a running commentary of the history and interesting facts of the area we were riding through which made this more than just a ride in the hills. All the while the VeloRoo ‘support wagon’ followed us in case we needed anything. If you love to ride and are lucky enough to be in the Sunshine Coast area of Queensland, I recommend getting the Veloroo team to guide you. You could try and navigate your own way – I have done this before – however having someone know the best routes based on your riding ability and what is happening in the area was invaluable.Took Australian Sunshine Coast Hinterland Cycling Tour in Sept 2020
October Pyrenees/Non-Cylist
What an amazing experience! Celebrating our 25th anniversary, watching my husband climb so many famous Tour de France climbs was a real treat! Steve & Julia were so welcoming upon our arrival at the train station and it just got better from there. We connected quickly with the other cyclists and one other non-cylist, all from different parts of the world. I especially enjoyed our meal times, chatting, laughing and getting to know one another. Riding along with Julia in the support van, each day more beautiful than the last was spectacular. I loved being able to watch my husband conquer his bucket list climbs and was able to get great videos and photos of him accomplishing them. Unfortunately the photos just don't do it justice! The beauty of the mountains, especially during the change of seasons was a sight I won't soon forget. Not knowing too much about cycling, the tour seemed well organized and the cyclists had everything they needed from great bikes & gear, to great guides and great support along the routes each day. The experience left us longing for more and has my husband already looking into a Spain trip that we hear through the grapevine Veloroo might soon be planning. Fingers crossed!! I highly recommend using Veloroo for your next cycling tour!Took Pyrénées Iconic Climbs Challenge in Oct 2019
