  • If you’re looking for a change from your “been there, done that” Australian cycling holiday destination, come with us to discover Australia’s best kept secret in Queensland’s south-east corner, the South Burnett region.

It’s so much more than just the Rail Trail!

    Tour Highlights

Set in the foothills of the ancient Bunya mountains with warm summers, mild winters and rich volcanic soil, the South Burnett region is the perfect place for a back country cycling adventure through vineyards, farmland and a hinterland that begs for discovery.

For the last few years the South Burnett region has grown in popularity because of its traditional dairy, peanut and agricultural industries and now boasts some wonderful wineries due to its enviable mediterranean-style climate. Located on the top of the Great Dividing Range in Queensland, the undulating hills, small country towns, patchwork farmland and eucalyptus forests make for an incredible gravel riding adventure.

All this, just 3 hrs from Brisbane.

What sort of cycling experience do I need?

VéloRoo Adventures are not about setting the fastest time, but having the best time!

If you are comfortable and have some experience riding in a group, you’ll be fine. Our adventure peloton sizes are capped at around a dozen people.

You need to be comfortable riding at least 50 kilometers in a day. The South Burnett is not mountainous, rather undulating. Each day there will be a couple of solid short pinches up to a couple of hundred meters in length. Panoramic view points are rarely at the bottom of a hill climb!

The South Burnett offers a wonderful range of riding surfaces from good country road tarmac to smooth dirt roads and rail trails.

Don’t think mountain biking rocks and jumps, but by their nature, unpaved roads can offer soft or loose gravelly sections or areas that may have some slight erosion after seasonal weather.

What sort of bike do I need?

You will need something that can handle dirt and gravel roads: a Gravel Bike, Mountain Bike or Electric Mountain Bike. Give us a call to discuss the suitability of your bike if you are unsure.

    • 3 guided cycling rides exploring the fabulous South Burnett region,
    • vehicle support on the rides – no need to weigh yourself down like a packhorse!
    • all Breakfasts,
    • all Lunches,
    • all Dinners,

Great gravel trail experience
Well organised with good trails, catering for all levels of ability. Good fund times with a few bevvys in the evening. Just wished I had less red wine before Day1!! Did the Kingaroy gravel trails and joined the local club on the last day. Would definitely do it againSep 2021
Gravelly Kingaroy! What a fantastic trip organised by VeloRoo. Everything is done for you: where to ride, stay and eat. Amazing lunch in the middle of nowhere. It was a great adventure. Novice riders also well catered for. All the worries taken out by outstanding planning of VeloRoo. Can't wait to go again. Thanks TracySep 2021
