We love all Cycling! Road Riding is our passion. In creating VéloRoo, our approach to Road Riding Cycling Holidays in France is to achieve balance on and off the bike.
Phonetically in French, Vélo – bike, Rue – Road, is all that we do, Road Bikes. The spelling of Roo, references our Australian heritage.
Due to our regions rich diversity in terrain and history, VéloRoo and our guests enjoy the luxury of being based in the one location, so there is no need to pack and unpack each day. Our accommodation is personally chosen to provide you with the comforts of home combined with the luxuries of being on holiday.
Our philosophy towards road riding: We are Rouleurs !
A rouleur is an all rounder who rides well on rolling terrain that’s neither mountainous nor flat and works well with others. Rouleurs use the little ring when the road points up for a long time. Winning (Strava) isn’t everything to the rouleur, which is why they’re often found among the ranks of the domestique.
As riders we want a challenge too. If the most captivating route involves a detour, or a hill, that is what we include. We choose not to design our seasonal Rouleur holidays to be all about segment times. Save that for your regular training rides!
However, keeping in mind our goal of balance, our epic rides are complemented by epic café’s, epic pain au chocolat’s, epic cuisine and epic natural beauty. Basically unforgettable experiences on and off the bike in the South of France! Rouleur – esque!
Occitanie (previously the Languedoc) is an undiscovered cyclists’ paradise – France’s last cycling secret.
The Avant Monts in the South of France, inland from the Mediterranean coast, is where VéloRoo calls home. An undulating landscape with a spectacular backdrop of the southern flanks of the Massif Central and Cevennes, as it rises from the Mediterranean plains.
Set in France’s oldest (and largest) wine region, dating back over two millennia our region is dominated by the vineyards as well as olive orchards and fragrant garrigue scrub.
On your VéloRoo cycling holiday in France, you’ll discover not only our roads are quiet but also peppered with Tour de France history! Our medieval villages are authentic and unspoilt, much like living museums. We’ve escaped the touristy glitz and commercialised polish of other Mediterranean regions and that’s exactly why we love it! The REAL South of France is addictive!
As we are the first dedicated road bike tour business established in the region, you will experience the best routes combining quiet country roads, picturesque scenery, beautiful vineyards and of course fabulous food and wine! All with vehicle support, just like the Pro’s!
On your cycling holiday in France with VéloRoo we will ride approx 50 – 80 km’s per day in the morning – just like your club/shop ride at home, but in France. For those who think too much riding in never enough, it doesn’t take much to twist Steve’s arm to continue riding after lunch!
Each carefully curated itinerary combines cycling, sightseeing and sharing our favourite cafes and restaurants, highlighting a different aspect of our diverse region. Our group size limit of 8 allows us to experience the authentic, local atmosphere that can only be found in family owned and run restaurants and café’s. It is these moments that make each day so memorable.
Of course we also love the high mountains. For those that love climbing, longer distances or a challenge, we have our VéloRoo-niversity Tours based locally and heading into the Cevennes and Massif Central or 2 trips a year to the Pyrénées!
These destinations have been selected after a lot of research to make sure we offer the opportunity to introduce you to the most authentic aspects in these wonderful regions.
“What an experience! We were recommended to Steve and Julia by a colleague. Met them in Brisbane while they were there. Felt comfortable and in the hands of professionals. Arrived in France and expectations were exceeded many fold. Steve’s easy going professionalism as the front man and cycling leader were more than matched by Julia’s eye for detail and behind-the-scenes organisation that kept our group on track and ahead of the game. An experience I and my non-cycling partner, Claire, will never forget. Cycling experience was awesome in terms of countryside, climbs, descends and views but eating, drinking and social experience just as awesome for all. 10/10 to the VeloRoo team.” Peter, Australia

We are an Australian couple and cycling enthusiasts who came to our first Tour de France in 2007. We quickly fell in love with the area and have been coming back each year since. In 2009 we bought a little medieval house in St Genies de Fontedit – and in 2011 we were lucky enough to have the Tour de France go right past our front door! Our love of cycling and our love of the Languedoc region as cycling heaven led us to establish our cycling tour and hire business VéloRoo. We look forward to sharing with you all that we have discovered and have come to love in this awesome cycling region we live in.
We look forward to showing you around!
